Jennifer Croney Chernak
I paint as a way to express gratitude for nature and to acknowledge its power. I create my paintings in the studio, and the subject matter comes from my imagination. My work explores the complex relationship between nature and buildings. Brick walls, bridges, rocks, water, barns, windows, and grasses are recurring motifs in my work. My otherworldly structures are meant to feel alive and intertwined with nature. These buildings offer safe spaces for reflection while maintaining environmental touchpoints. In my work, I am pursuing a vision of a place that contains a bit of magic, an opportunity for escape, and an alternative conversation between nature and people-driven activity.
